Performances: In the character of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, which the author has endorsed, Dhanush has excelled. He handled even challenging scenes with ease. As Meenakshi, the love interest of Tilak, Samyuktha is a welcome addition.

Given that Tripathi has played numerous villainous parts in the past, Samuthirakani, playing such a strong villain character for him should be a piece of cake. Sai Kumar possesses a respectable character and meets the requirements for the position of village president.

As a fellow speaker, Hyper Aadi does a wonderful job of entertaining the audience in the first half. Dhanush’s father, Aadakulam Naren, is a driver who occasionally adds an emotional touch to the narrative. Given the constraints of a hero-centric movie, the ensemble cast of the movie does a good job in their individual roles.

Verdict: Venky Atluri comes out of his typical rom-com zone and tries to tell a honest story of a teacher in a commercial way. Movie had shades of ‘Super 30’ but Atluri does an alright job of packaging it commercially although it had more potential.

Though the first half could’ve been better and some parts are over the top, the core emotion works in the film and the 2nd half is crisp with some good blocks. Dhanush gives a good performance in this one.

Overall, Dhanush’s Sir is a respectable social play that discusses the current education mafia. The film carries a social message below its amazing emotional sequences. Dhanush is excellent in the movie and is the only thing that makes it good. You can see the movie this weekend, with the exception of a few sequences that are superfluous in the second part.
