Director Bobby’s multi-starrer with Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya, Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput, titled Venky Mama, will hits screens this Friday. The film is a family drama that shows the equation between a mama and his alludu and brings together real-life uncle-nephew, Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya, together on-screen for the first time. While fans of the film will have enough reasons to watch it, here are our five reasons why you should watch it:
Venkatesh was last seen in F2, a film that left the audience in splits. Naga Chaitanya too was last seen in Majili, a film that showcased a whole new side of him as an actor. Venkatesh is expected to do what he does best in the film which is filled with scenes full of light-hearted comedy and emotion both. Naga Chaitanya will be seen playing an army officer for the first-time on-screen, and it will be interesting to see how the actors pull off the film.
The story Venky Mama has been described by Bobby as the love story between a mama and his alludu. The trailer of the film however hints at it being so much more than that with themes of horoscopes and army being touched upon. While the film seems like a light-hearted family drama filled with comedy on the surface, it would be interesting how things take a turn as the plot progresses and where it all ends up.
Payal Rajput-Raashi Khanna
Payal Rajput made a stunning debut as the sociopathic and manipulative Indu in RX 100, following it up with a special number in Sita and a female-centric film titled RDX Love. However, fans have been itching to see her more on-screen and this film will be the perfect opportunity. Raashi Khanna on the other hand has her hands full with projects, the first of which to hit screens is Venky Mama. Talking about their roles, Bobby has said that both are there to serve a purpose and move plot points, which will be refreshing to see on-screen.
The Kashmir episodes
Naga Chaitanya is playing an army officer role in the film and related episodes were canned in Kashmir. The movie unit had to shoot in -4 and -5 degrees temperatures in Sonamarg, Kashmir. The only way to reach this shooting spot was by traveling on horses. They also shot in Pahalgam and Gulmarg. Action sequences and a few other key scenes were shot in this schedule. This 40-minute episode holds the key as it forms the core plot of the film. A surgical strike episode has also been canned here.
The novelty of it all
A major draw for most fans is the fact that Venky Mama sees Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya together on-screen for the first time. The fact that they’re playing mama-alludu makes it all the more exciting seeing as how both actors have reinstated in interviews that being family helped them emote better on-screen. The filmmakers have also said that while the first half will be light-hearted in tone, the second half of the film will delve deeper into their relationship.
