In Tollywood, the Sankranti festival has always been synonymous with exciting and competitive movie releases. Last year, the Sankranti box office witnessed a massive shake-up with some blockbuster hits. Similarly, this year too, several highly anticipated films are set to release during the festive season, promising a cinematic treat for audiences.
Among the biggies releasing this Sankranti are Global Star Ram Charan’s “Game Changer”, Natasimha Balakrishna’s grand film “Daksha Maharaja”, and Victory Venkatesh’s “Sankranthiki Vachestham”. Each of these films carries tremendous expectations and is gearing up for a high-octane festival battle.
Interestingly, when we look back at Tollywood’s Sankranti releases, the all-time record for collections during this festive season was set last year by “Hanu-Man”, a film that came as a surprise blockbuster. Directed by Prasanth Varma and starring Teja Sajja, the film created history despite being a relatively small-budget movie. It grossed over ₹300 crores, becoming the highest-grossing Sankranti release of all time, and also dominated in terms of distributor share.
Now, the big question is: will “Hanu-Man’s” record be broken this year? While it remains a challenging milestone to surpass, “Game Changer” seems to have the strongest chance to rewrite the history books, given its scale and the massive fan base of Ram Charan.
With such intense competition and expectations riding high, this Sankranti promises to be yet another thrilling chapter for Tollywood. Let’s wait and see if the crown held by “Hanu-Man” will remain intact or pass on to a new blockbuster!
