Rajinikantha and Director Nelson’s second collaboration Jailer 2 became an Industry Hit unexpectedly. The film came out without much promotion and with a bit of negative vibes before its release but box office collections are next level. Everyone thinks it will cross 1000 crore at box office and Rajinikanth will create a new record in the Tamil film industry. The Sun Pictures team was shocked to see its collections, especially in Tamil Nadu. They expected it to be a hit, but they are admitting that they did not expect it to be this level of chaos. The question arises whether Muthuvel Pandian, which has crossed 770 crores so far, has lost its momentum.
The answer to that cannot be said to be a complete yes. Because even now in Tamil there are no crazy releases worth mentioning. There will still be open ground till Diwali. If Venkatesh Aadarsha Kutumbam AK47 gets a lot of positive talk in Telugu, then Rajinikanth’s film will reach its climax in AP and Telangana. Vishwak Sen also has a cult movie following, so the response it gets will also be crucial. Vijay Deverakonda latest release film Ranabaali almost closing all centers which is released alongside of Jailer 2.
The comment that Jailer 2 would have crossed a thousand crores if it had received a little more positive talk is not a lie. Rajinikanth really has that much stamina. However, due to the mistakes made by the directors, both Jailer 2 and Jailer have missed a lot of potential at box office. However, unlike Lokesh Kanagaraj, Nelson Dilip Kumar did not face criticism. The feedback that he completely satisfied the fans saved his image from damage.
Now, success is going to be very positive for Rajinikanth’s next movie Dharman. Business inquiries are strong. They say it will be released on Sankranthi 2027, but looking at the current situation it is very doubtful to release at time but if the film comes to target date it will become another HIT for Rajinikanth. Although the Jailer 2 collections are very good, there is talk that it has not completely broken even because the Telugu rights were bought at a huge price. If we wait for another two days, we will get clarity on Monday.
