Major (Review) starring Adivi Sesh in the titular role is carrying good expectations among the moviegoers. Said to be a biopic on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, this Sashi Kiran Tikka directional has hit the silver screens today. Let’s analyse it.
Major Movie Story:
As everyone knows, Major is a biographical drama based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. True to the core theme the film showcases Sandeep’s spirited life and determination as a soldier.
What is Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s ( Adivi Sesh) childhood? Which aspects influence him to serve the nation? What kind of hard work Sandeep does do after joining the army to reach the NSG Commando position? Finally, his sacrifice during the 26/11 terror attacks, forms the main crux.
After watching once will easily say that Adivi Sesh just lives in the role of NSG Commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan and gave his best. The actor just nailed it with his superb screen presence and settled performance throughout the film. To keep it in one word, Adivi Sesh kept in sweat and blood for the role of the slain NSG Commando.
Young starlet Saiee Manjrekar is cute and her love track with Sandeep is showcased decently. Other artists such as Prakash Raj, Revathi gave a natural and convincing performance as Sandeep’s parents. Actress Shobita Dhulipala as a hostage and Murali Sharma as an efficient Army Major did their job quite impressively.
While watching the film at one point in time we. feel like the film is a hero-centric drama right from his elevations to the way he is showcased as the front runner in the Commando operation. Instead, the team would have focused on a few other sub-plots like family related emotions and other Army portions for even better output.
Though the love track between the lead pair is showcased decently, the thread between Sandeep and his wife comes as a speed breaker for crucial second-half proceedings.
Adivi Sesh did multiple jobs for the film. Apart from acting, he provided story and screenplay for the movie. He even provided dialogues for a few key portions. Director Sashi Kiran Tikka did his part quite decently and executed the film as per the on paper directions from Adivi Sesh.
The photography work by Vamsi Patchipulusu is impressive as he showcased the entire film especially the Taj Mahal hotel and the operation incidents in it on a lavish note. Editing work by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi and Kodati Pavan Kalyan is good as their work didn’t disturb the flow of the film. Music by Sricharan Pakala is the backbone of the film a sit elevates the crucial Taj Mahal hotel operation episodes nicely. Production values by Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainments, Sony Pictures and A+S Movies are lavish as the entire film has a grandeur look.
All in all, Major is a great tribute from the team and glorifies the sacrifices of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Adivi Sesh settled performance and cool attitude bring life to the titular role and elevate the heroism nicely. Though the film lacks the template commercial elements, it still manages to impress with its patriotic content.
