It’s already evident that Akkineni Nagarjuna is making his Bollywood comeback after 15 years with director Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, the fantasy action-adventure film has been on sets since last year. The duo of Amitabh and Nagarjuna has earlier worked together in Agni Varsha and Khuda Gawah. Meanwhile, sources claim that the Akkineni hero is essaying the role of an archaeologist in the big-budget project.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Nagarjuna’s portions have been extensively filmed in the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the Chet Singh Fort and on the banks of Ganga. The source revealed “Nagarjuna’s character, along with his students undertakes an expedition to restore an ancient temple along the banks of the Ganga.”
The source further added that “An important event leads Shiva and Isha to Nagarjuna and the story unfolds in the ancient temple city before moving to the Himalayas. The film’s antagonists, Mouni Roy and Saurav Gurjar, also come into play because of Nagarjuna’s track.”
A high-octane action-sequence featuring all the actors was shot early this year. Bankrolled by Karan Johar, the first part in the fantasy trilogy is slated for a summer release in 2020.
