Tamil actor Soori and Tollywood young hero Suhas are co-starring in Mandaadi. The film is directed by Mathimaran Pugalendhi and jointly produced by L. Red Kumar and Vetrimaaran under the banner of RS Infotainment. The film was released worldwide in Telugu and Tamil on September 10.

According to Kollywood reports, the budget of Mandaadi is around Rs 45 crore, including the remuneration of the actors and technicians, production costs and publicity expenses. Based on this, trade analysts have set the film’s breakeven target at more than Rs 100 crore gross.

Mandaadi has earned around Rs 18 crore overseas, including North America, the Gulf, Middle East, UK, Europe and other markets.

According to the trade reports, the film has grossed Rs 132.40 crore worldwide, including its India collections. However, the makers of the film has already announced that Mandaadi film has crossed Rs 140 crore worldwide.

Mandaadi Movie Profits

Mandaadi needed to cross Rs 100 crore gross to reach profitability. According to the producer, the film has already crossed Rs 140 crore worldwide. Analysts estimate that the film has generated around Rs 50 crore in distribution value.

The producer also benefited from the OTT deal. The producer initially quoted Rs 25 crore for the digital rights, while Netflix reportedly offered only Rs 15 crore. However, the two sides eventually agreed on a deal based on the film’s box office collections.

As per the deal, if Mandaadi crosses Rs 50 crore, Netflix will pay Rs 30 crore. If the film crosses Rs 60 crore to Rs 80 crore, the amount will increase to Rs 40 crore. Since the film has crossed Rs 140 crore worldwide, Netflix is expected to pay a significantly higher amount, reportedly more than Rs 50 crore.

Based on this calculation, the producer is expected to make more than Rs 5 crore in profit through the OTT deal alone. Kollywood sources also say the producer has earned significant profits through the theatrical, satellite and audio rights.

Mandaadi will begin streaming on OTT from October 9. Even after 25 days, the film has continued to perform well despite competition from big releases. It is still earning around Rs 1 crore per day. It remains to be seen how much the film will collect by the end of its theatrical run.
