‘Drishyam’ is a trendsetter in Indian cinema. The Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal was remade in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada languages successfully. The Telugu version had Venkatesh in the lead role.
Apart from Telugu (Victory Venkatesh as the hero) this film has been remade into Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Sinhala (Sri Lanka) languages. Drishyam is the story of the film director Jeetu Joseph who is currently preparing the sequel to this film. Mohanlal has already given the green signal. Mohanlal and Meena played the lead roles in this film. When the lockdown was lifted and the films were permitted to shoot, the shooting of this film starts. If all goes as planned, there will be a sequel released this year or early next year. It is speculated that Venkatesh will remake this film, too as Drusyam 2 is a blockbuster hit in Telugu.
After completing Naarappa, the Telugu remake of Asuran, Venkatesh Daggubati might foray into the digital space with a web series, produced by Suresh Babu. Sources say that the two have already initiated talks with director Teja of Nuvvu Nenu fame and the script will be locked by the end of this month.
