Along with Tamil, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil starrer Vikram had hit the screens in Telugu as well with the same title today. Let’s analyse it.

Vikram Review & Story:
To track a missing cocaine container, a few serial murders will happen. Left with no clue, the police department approaches Amar( Fahadh Faasil) an undercover cop to investigate the case. In the investigation process, Amar comes to know about the illegal activities of Santhanam(Vijay Sethupathi).

Who is Santhanam? How is he interconnected with the cocaine container missing case? How a retired military Commando Vikram( Kamal Haasan) lands into the plotline? To know that, you have to watch the film in the theaters near you.

Merits:
Salt and pepper look of Kamal Haasan is good and his screen presence adds realistic texture to the proceedings. Performance-wise, Kamal gave his best in the multilayer character.

Fahadh Faasil is a surprising factor in the movie and the talented actor is apt in the investigation officer role. Fahadh’s performance in a pre-climax portions adda life to a few emotional scenes.

Last but not least, Vijay Sethupathi is just outstanding with his rustic avatar and brings depth to a few key action blocks in the second half with his acting. A couple of artists who played key roles are apt in their respective roles. Suriya’s cameo during the ending portions of the film is good and a feast for his fans to watch him in massy avatar.

Demerits:
Director cum writer Lokesh Kanagaraj’s core concept of showcasing the illegal activities related to drug dealing concept on a lavish scale is good. While his execution is quite effective during the pre-climax and climax portions, the director took his own sweet time to enter into the main plotline which unveils only during the interval point.

Adding to it, the director ignored giving proper detailing about Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi characters due to which the proceedings in the second half lacks a strong feel in them.

Technical Crew:
The photography work by Girish Gangadharan elevates the mood of the film nicely. He tried to capture the night mode shots in an effective manner by using his framing and lighting setup.

Without any second thought,Anirudh’s music is a major plus for this action thriller as it elevates the key blocks in both the halves in an engaging manner. Editing by Philomin Raj is adequate as he would have chopped off a few unwanted scenes in both the halves to create curiosity among the audience.

Production design work is good and so is the case with the production values for this star-studded movie.

Verdict:
All in all, Vikram is an okayish action drama that revolves around drug mafia concept. While the lead actors gave their best in terms of acting, a few cliches in the narrative comes as demerit for Vikram. Watch it if you have enough time and money or else to for an OTT streaming when released online.
