Director Anil Ravipudi has been making his mark every Sankranthi for the past few years. Now, he is working with Venkatesh and Nandamuri Kalyanram for the upcoming film January 12 Vidudala, which is scheduled to release on January 12, 2027. According to reports, the film has already completed around 60% of its shooting. Keerthy Suresh and Krithi Shetty are playing the female leads.
The makers are continuing the shoot without any major delays, despite a few leaks from the sets. Recently, a song shoot was leaked and went viral on social media, with several cast and crew members seen participating in a temple-themed song.
Yesterday, music director GV Prakash Kumar shared his first review of the film. He tweeted, “Just saw one hour thirty mins footage of #January12Vidudala …. BLOCKBUSTER incoming for Sankranthi”, along with an image from the editing room showing Venkatesh and Nandamuri Kalyanram. This indicates that the shooting and post-production work are moving simultaneously without any major delay.
Anil Ravipudi’s strategy is also becoming clear. By finishing a major portion of the shoot well in advance, he has plenty of time to plan promotions and take the film closer to the audience.
Other Sankranthi Movies Shooting Updates
Coming to the other Sankranthi releases, Chiranjeevi’s Kaka is currently in production. The team recently released a small glimpse announcing the title, but there has been no major update since then. Mahakali has only recently started shooting, while Sharwanand and George’s Krish has also just begun production, so major promotional updates from these films may take some time. The Sree Vishnu team has not yet taken a clear decision regarding its release.
At this stage, Venkatesh’s January 12 Vidudala appears to have the strongest potential to keep delivering updates and maintaining promotional momentum through December. With tough competition for Sankranthi, Anil Ravipudi is likely to put in extra effort to bring the film closer to the audience without becoming overconfident. There is also strong talk within the unit that the comedy involving the two lead couples has worked well on screen and reached a good level.
